XENO TAROT PROJECT
a Xeno series fan project

A collaborative fan initiative that aimed to create a captivating set of tarot cards featuring the characters from Xenogears, Xenosaga and Xenoblade Chronicles. With artists from all over the world participating, including Japanese contributors, the project is a worldwide celebration of the Xeno series.

The organizers of the project provided a broad brief, requesting the inclusion of a golden color in the palette to complement the golden frames adorning each card, as well as the importance of the Sci-Fi themes that are present in each of the games to be accented as the unifying element.

For this project, my approach was to create a clean and cohesive brand that blends the themes of the games with the mystique of tarot. To achieve that, I delved into the rich world of tarot design, both contemporary and traditional, to influence the typography of the logo, while designing graphics that reference important Xeno series elements. Along the way, I also faced the challenge of having to work with Japanese friendly fonts that would complement the overall design, since the communication for the brand is billigual – English & Japanese.
