2023 – Latvian Song and Dance Festival – the 150th anniversary of the tradition since it began. Musicologist Ilze Liepiņa-Šarkovska compiled articles reflecting on the history and experiences over the 150 years of the tradition from a variety of authors, not only documenting the tradition's history locally, but the experiences of Latvian people in exile. The brief was to create a personality for this book that would visualize the depth of this important tradition.

With such a monumental and historically significant publication, it was a big undertaking to make sure that the visuals of the book are able to reflect the topic and its key elements and mood.

The approach was to create a visual solution that would work alongside with the brand identity of the year's festival. The concept is based on experience, tradition, bloodflow, power and inspiration, as deep as the sea, as old as tales of an oak tree's rings, as personal as a fingerprint, all entailed in a line of flow through the years and Latvian culture's evolution. Always flowing and continuing further, to be a beautiful tradition that is in the hearts of Latvians worldwide, no matter the time and circumstance. One of the most vital essences of Latvia.
